Friends of the Goodnow Library Bring Tanglewood Marionettes Back to MetroWest
The Friends of the Goodnow Library are pleased to announce the second program in a series of free 2024-2025 programs made possible by a generous bequest from Stella and Frank Ricciardi. These free programs are part of the Ricciardi Family Program Series.
On Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 3 pm, Tanglewood Marionettes will perform Cinderella in the Ephraim Curtis Middle School Auditorium, 22 Pratts Mill Road, Sudbury. Seating will be first come, first served. The Marionettes were very popular last year so please plan to arrive early for the best seating options.
Set in the 18th century and featuring a dozen lavishly costumed 30” marionettes, this production of Cinderella is a Tanglewood Marionettes showpiece. The story unfolds as the pages of a giant book open to reveal each beautifully painted setting — the village square, the rustic kitchen, the magnificent ballroom, plus many more. All your favorite characters are here, from gentle Cinderella to the bumptious Step-Sisters and the charming Prince, and each marionette is manipulated with precision and grace by their talented puppeteers.
The Tanglewood Marionettes’ version is based on the original beloved tale, but they do offer a few new surprises: Cinderella’s method of conveyance to the ball is NOT your traditional coach-and-four, and, when all hope seems lost, a clever little bluebird saves the day.
A classic fairy tale told with wit and style, Tanglewood Marionettes’ production of Cinderella is a treat for all ages. The production is approximately 45 minutes in length, and includes a Puppetry Demonstration prior to the show, and a Question and Answer Session following the performance. Don’t miss this opportunity to interact with the puppets and the puppeteers. This was one of the most popular parts of the show.
This program is appropriate for children in grades Pre-K-grade 6. Teens and adults will also enjoy not only the story, but also the artistry and technical elements of the program. Please join us for this very special family event.
Founded in 1993 by Anne Ware and Peter Schaefer, Tanglewood Marionettes is a marionette theater based in New England. Their repertoire consists primarily of classic tales performed by skilled puppeteers who have spent many years perfecting their art. They have toured throughout the United States.
