​The Friends of the Goodnow Library offered the community the opportunity to engage with the library in a meaningful way.

Membership brings many rewards, including the knowledge that your gift makes a real difference to our public library.  Your contribution provides funding for a wide range of programs and resources.

Friends-supported programming includes author programs,  workshops, cooking programs, summer reading programs, teen and children’s programs, and the Sunday Afternoons at Goodnow Cultural Series. The Friends also fund museum passes, the movie license, library equipment, and special projects like the RFID checkout system, the book drop, toys for Children’s Room, furnishings for the Community Gathering Space, and more. 

Since its incorporation in 1988, the Friends of the Goodnow Library have contributed more than $1.25 million toward programs, capital improvements, and essential library resources. It’s all made possible by our dedicated members and supporters.

Member benefits

In addition to helping the library in many ways, members received direct benefits from joining the Friends, such as:

• A special member-only preview during our Annual Book and Bake Sale. This means members can get the best selection from our terrific collection of hardcover and paperback books, audiobooks, DVDs, and CDs.
